Ry Cooder confirmed for exclusive Notodden Blues Festival headliner performance August 2.
The slogan for this year's Notodden Blues Festval is "Bop 'til You Drop" and the musicians responsible for keeping Norwegian fans "bopping" is multi-instrumentalist roots rocker Ry Cooder. This exclusive performance on Thursday August 2nd will be The One Concert You Must Experience this summer. Cooder's crossover blend of American musikal traditions from country blues to gospel to Tex-Mex makes him one of the most influential that, in 2003, he was named eight most influential guitarist in Rolling Stone Magazine's 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time.
Though his current 2018 recording, The Prodigal Son, is his 17th solo record, don't forget all his decades of work on soundtracks and compilations. In addition, Cooder's guest apperance include working With the Rolling Stones (Let It Bleed, Sticky Fingers), Little Feat, Neil Young, Randy Newman, Gordon Lightfoot, Eric Clapton, Van Morrison (Into The Music), John Hiatt (Bring the Family), John Lee Hooker (Mr. Lucky), and many, many others.
Furthermore, Cooder was a founding member of John Hiatt's Little Village Band, producer of the award winning Buena Vista Social Club recording and documentary, and he has won sex Grammy Awards. Pretty Cool for a guitarist and singer who, at the age of 18, was an original member of the Rising Sons With Taj Mahal and Ed Cassidy in 1964, recording 22 country blues songs, and was a guitarist on Taj's 1968 debut record.
