George Thorogood

DATE: FRIDAY 31. JULY 2020 VENUE: Hovigs Hangar TIME: Unknown

George Thorogood & the Destroyers played the audience to ecstatic heights with their concert in Hovig's Hangar in 2015. Now the iconic blues rocker returns on a very rare visit to Norway and enters the Blues Town for an exclusive Norwegian concert on Friday 31 July. The 2015 concert in front of 6,000 people in a sold-out Hovig's Hangar stands as a highlight of Notodden's more than 30-year history. Thorogood left the stage as the crowd shouted for more. After five years, the calls are answered and George Thorogood & the Destroyers return, at their discretion, to the Notodden Blues Festival as part of their ongoing "Good To Be Bad Tour: 45 Years Of Rock".

After more than 8,000 concerts since its inception in 1975, 15 million records sold, of which 6 have sold for gold and 2 for platinum, George Thorogood & the Destroyers is still "Bad To The Bone" and an unparalleled entertainment machine.

George Thorogood & the Destroyer's popularity did not disappear with the death of the physical record, but confirms its popularity with more than 72 million streams of "Bad To The Bone", 20 million of "One Bourbone, One Scotch, One Beer" and 12 million of " I Drink Alone ». Buddy Guy's most popular song has 15 million streams and Joe Bonamassa (with Beth Hart) his most voiced song is "Rather Go Go Blind" with just under 9 million.

"The popularity of George Thorogood in our music segment is well illustrated by his nearly 1.6 million monthly listeners on Spotify, which is almost twice as much as Joe Bonamassa and Buddy Guy and more than double that of Beth Hart. All of these are great audience favorites with us at Notodden. George Thorogood is miles ahead of these. Obviously we are happy with this booking, ”says festival director Jostein Forsberg.
