SUPERSONIC BLUES MACHINE
& special guests:
Billy F. Gibbons, Eric Gales & Joe Louis Walker
The Supersonic Blues Machine struck down as a bomb when they played at the Notodden Blues Festival in 2016. Today, the concert is referred to as a legendary performance and one of the Notodden Festival's greatest musical project successes. Notodden Blues Festival and the Supersonic Blues Machine have always kept in touch, and there has been mutual agreement on following up the cooperation when the time felt right. And now is the time!
Once again, Kenny Aronoff, Fabrizio Grossi and Kris Barras in the Supersonic Blues Machine have assembled an incredible bundle of guests such as ZZ Top guitar superstar Billy F. Gibbons, blues new star Eric Gales and blues legend Joe Louis Walker. They're coming together for a completely unique concert experience at Notodden. This is a happening that will only happen once and which no music enthusiast should miss.
Separate members of the Supersonic Blues Machine, Kenny Aronoff and Fabrizio Grossi, have a track record that includes collaboration with super artists such as Eric Clapton, John Fogerty, Joe Cocker, Jack White, Alice Cooper, BB King, Slash, Bonnie Raitt and Dr. John . New solid guitarist in the band is the British phenomenon Kris Barras. This time, the trio has also been expanded with keyboard and two choirs. This lays the foundation for a more than rich musical foundation for the star guest Billy F. Gibbons, Eric Gales and Joe Louis Walker.
Billy F. Gibbons we know well as front figure, guitarist and singer in ZZ Top. He is one of the best riff masters of all time and everyone knows him through ZZ Top classics like Gimme All Your Loving, Tush, Got Me Under Pressure, Sharp Dressed Man, Cheap Sunglasses, and more. Gibbons recently released the solo album "The Big Bad Blues" for overwhelming reviews, and he played with ZZ Top at Notodden in 2012. In 2019, Gibbons takes on a long anniversary tour with ZZ Top, but during the Notodden Blues Festival, ZZ Top has some days off. Billy Gibbons approached Aronoff and Grossi in the Supersonic Blues Machine with the following message: "I don't want a vacation. I want to return to Notodden »! It didn't take long before it was fixed. Gibbons is in great shape and is now looking forward to Notodden.
Eric Gales is one of the hottest artists in the blues sky in the United States these days. He goes from success to success. Everyone wants to play with Eric Gales. Gales has performed with Santana and both Lauryn Hill and Gary Clark, Jr. was on Gales' album "Middle of the Road" in 2017. Eric Gales released a new album in February 2019. Joe Bonamassa has featured Eric Gales as: One of the best, if not the best guitar player in the world ”, and Carlos Santana said about Gales:“ He is absolutely incredible ”. Enjoy Eric Gales's first appearance at the Notodden Blues Festival!
One who has performed at the Notodden Blues Festival earlier is Joe Louis Walker. BUT we have to go all the way back to 1990, when he played the Sunday concert at Myrens Dam. Now he's finally back! Joe Louis Walker has consolidated his position as an American blues legend with countless recordings, awards and prestigious festival appearances. Joe Louis Walker has not been to Norway for many years. We have had many requests from the public to bring Walker back. Now it is happening - and in an adventurous musical package. Joe Louis Walker was nominated for Grammy in 2015 for the album "Everybody Wants A Piece". He is the winner of the 4 Blues Music Awards and is enrolled in the Blues Foundation Blues Hall of Fame. A true Blues legend is on its way to Notodden!
With this concert it is set for yet another unique and wonderful experience at the Notodden Blues Festival!
Everyone in the Supersonic Blues Machine is looking forward to seeing the audience at Notodden and has sent the following message:
“Getting invited back to the one of the coolest Blues Festivals in the world, it’s a privilege and a honor, but getting invited back to Notodden is like scoring a second date with your dream girl !!!
Notodden was Supersonic Blues Machine major second gig ever, and that’s something that we will all cherish with love and appreciation for the rest of our lives, and knowing that we could repeat the experience once again in 2019 it’s really mind blowing !!! The geography of it, the history of it, the amazing fans and the warmth , professionalism and determination of the production and promoter’s team just makes this experience something that is explainable with words.
Supersonic, alongside our Godfather The Reverend, and our brothers Eric Gales and Joe Luis Walker are beyond excited about this show that we’re already packing up . Fans get ready , because there’s no way to determine the magnitude of ass kicking that we’re planning for our dear Norwegian brothers and sisters ! Blues on, rock hard and boogie all thru the night !”
See you soon !!!!
