The festival has every reason to be satisfied this booking. If one presents a Blues festival there currently is no one more important than Buddy Guy. The Blue Legend at the age of 80 this summer and is still "going strong". Still touring and recording sessions extensively.

"Yezz! We have got the booking we really wanted for our anniversary in 2017. Buddy Guy is Blues definitely biggest name, and now he's ready for the Notodden Blues Festival on Saturday 5. Guy was enrolled in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015. It is extremely important for us to have him in place for next year's festival, and we will fly him in from Chicago exclusively for this concert. We have worked hard and intensively, "says festival director Jostein Forsberg.
Buddy Guy is known as one of the most influential Blues guitarists he world has ever seen. Guy was born in Louisiana in 1930, but has lived in Chicago since 1957. It was here that he developed his groundbreaking guitar work that would alter the Blues and set the standard for the new guitar-dominated Rock from the late 1960s to present day. Guy has a unique ability to keep Blues traditions alive, while also being able to bring the music form forward. "He's the top honcho now," said Keith Richards recently about Buddy Guy.
"In a year in which The Rolling Stones get enormous attention with their Blues album" Blue and Lonesome, " it feels absolutely right that we have" the real thing "in the form of Buddy Guyon the programr. With his groundbreaking guitar and its exceptional ability to entertain, it is expected that Buddy Guy eill be a wonderful experience at Notodden.
2016 has been a year were we have seen many greats disappear, and Buddy Guy is "the last man standing" of the iconic Blue giants. There is every reason to use this unique opportunity to see one of musicial history's greatest surviving legends. He's still in great shape and sparkles with enthusiasm, "says Jostein Forsberg.
